the niobrara river starts in wyoming slashing up thru the panhandle of nebraska to meander it's way thru the sandhills in the north-central part of the state, skirting along the south dakota-nebraska state line before mixing with the great missouri river at niobrara, nebraska. thru the sandhills it is a beautiful river that once provided a highway for travelers and traders with bridges and inns every 10 miles. today, the inns and most of the bridges are gone but many enjoy traveling the river on canoes, fishing it's banks, or just driving along and soaking up the atmosphere.
