Merrit Reservoir ...

Situated in a narrow, picturesque valley of the Snake River, Merritt Reservoir is 26 miles southwest of Valentine in Nebraska's unique Sand Hills. The reservoir covers 2,906 surface acres and has 44 miles of shoreline. It can store 74,486 acre-feet of water and irrigates approximately 34,539 acres of farmland. Merritt offers some of Nebraska's premier fishing. It is a deep lake with excellent inflow from the Snake River and Boardman Creek. Swimming, boating, water skiing and other water related activities as well as camping make it a popular vacation spot.

Lovely gallery! It strikes me how much your landscapes resembles the landscapes of Denmark and South Sweden! Maybe that's why your ancestors settled down here :-)
