Lionesses and Cubs

We found two lionesses and their cubs in this dry riverbed. These females are part of the Mapogo pride. One set of cubs were about a month old and the others around 6 month old. The young cubs had just recently been introduced to the other female. There were 5 cubs in total and all of them are male. If they survive, it could make quite a coalition!

It has saddened me to find out today, January 31, 2009, that all of this beautiful pride, the Sand River, were shot and killed when they had escaped outside of Sabi Sands. Here is a link to that article. http://www.leopardhills.com/blog/index.php?itemid=217
