American cemetery of Colleville sur Mer.
Just over Omaha beach where the US troops suffered their highest losses on D-Day.
The land is now an American territory and some 9 000 soldiers killed on the beaches or in Normandy are buried.
The names of some 1 500 other men missing in action are also visible on a memorial.

Very moving photograph. I visited Colleville sur Mer several years ago. It was very early in the morning, and I was the only one there. As an American, albeit born two years after the end of WWII, this was perhaps the most moving experience I had at that visit to France.
