I'm told the name means 'Seven Spires', the number seven being auspicious. Anyway, at the NW edge of the Superhighway which rings Chiang Mai, there is an old small complex of religious buildings, collectively known as Wat Jedyod. (There are various other anglicised spellings.) The dates displayed went from 1487 A.D. to early 1500s for construction. We ambled around, taking photos of the restoration work, in progress, looking pretty complete, or still very raw. The toilet facilities were clean - yay!.
