As with many of us, he got into geology derived from a love of the natural landscape in Tasmania - but he took it into University study and a lifelong involvement. Lune River is no population hotbed. It remains on the 'edge of the known world' - right at the end of Tassie and the beginning of the South-west wilderness area, so his love of Tasmanian wilderness has also persisted.St David's Park in the background.
