Bruny Island, Southern Tasmania

My favourite beaches are those where trees come down to the edge of the sand. They provide shelter from the sun and are visually more interesting, not just sand. Often the rocks have interesting forms and even pools. This is a leaf dropped from the canopy above, a chewed-off, dry gum leaf, by the look of it. The lichen is typical of our beaches. Further up the East Coast, the lichen colours are yellow and orange as well.
