There is a road which winds its way up through the zoo complex which is at the bottom of Doi Suthep. Tourists who have a penchant for sitting back , or a need to rest their feet, rather that walking about the many paths, can take mini buses. At the highest point, the elephants hang out and when they hear a bus, they get quite antsy, because the handlers sell food for them to the tourists, in little plastic bowls. The elephants reach out and are eager to stuff their faces. I presume this is the source of the elephants' food, either directly, because they get fed, or indirectly because the money goes to their supplies (although I wouldn't be too sure about the latter). They are pretty unary all the time.)
