Chiang Mai is quite diverse. It has the old city area, the ruins from centuries past, active working wats as well as old chedis which are falling apart, but are still point of reverence with flowers, images and incense placed on them. It has tower blocks and old-fashioned markets, old wooden buildings and new concrete monstrosities. And it has a talented Bonsai Club.
