Pavillion Plus Lanterns

Royal Pavillion, Ratchaphruek Festival

Down the Avenue. During the Ratchaphruek Floral Exhibition, the parade of floats was a nightly feature, ending in the paved circle just in front of this flower bed. The floating lanterns are a mark of celebration - religious in origin for the festival of Loi Kratong, I think, but adapted to show delight, reverence, thanks and supplication in significant events. When does the religious not conincide with these others, in Thai life?
