Fungus: glowing to deep blood-red.

Ontario, Canada.

Unusual fungus in a dark part of the forest, just outside Penetanguishene.
There were only about ten specimens, and we didn't see them elsewhere. Some parts of the plant were a vibrant orange at the end, and others were a deep rich red, a fungal variety of velvet. The specks on them were either granite sand specks from where they pushed through the earth, or where rain had splashed grains up on them.
