Two of my tourist group putting the paddling technique into practice in coracles (basket-boats). It's an 's' stroke in the water and is quite economical and effective. I didn't feel I had enough time to try and master it, with everyone watching, but I used a basic canoe stroke, in one side, stroke, then lift up , insert paddle on the other side, stroke, lift up - etc. It worked well enough. One young woman got the 'S' stroke well enough for a bit, then lost it. In this picture, on the right, is a tree leaning over the water, with a reed mattress airing.
