In Tibetan, 'TSO' means lake; and Namtso means 'Heavenly Lake'. Situated 4718m above sea level, and surrounded by snow covered peaks, Namtso is one of the three holy lakes of Tibet. It is the highest salt water lake in the world.
Every year, pilgrims from everywhere come here and spend over a month to walk the entire length of its shore. They believe this will bring them good fortune.
