New Years Day
The first day of the new year arrived with a pile of fresh snow, which covered everything with a big white blanket, making it all look new again. I hope that the New Year found you with good health and spirits, and manageable resolutions for the upcoming year!
Happy New Year.

Last Chance
What a night to be on a lake! My brother and I took my nephew and one of my cousin's kids from out of town fishing on a local metro lake. Time was limited, but we made the most of it. We started with a quick run down a section of docks, and even though we boated quite a few fish, both kids were still empty handed. "Would you guys like to head to a different spot and try to hook into some nice smallies? (small mouth bass). "Yes!" So we were on our way across a fairly large lake. As we raced across the lake, the sun dipped below the horizon and the colors appeared. The new spot yeilded only slightly better fishing, but the sunset was one to remember.

Superior Storm
At the conclusion of a nice relaxing photo safari on the North Shore, we were met by a large thunderstorm, complete with icy cold rain, Sunday morning in Silver Bay. The usual weather patterns in Minnesota push weather towards the east, but on this particular day, the strom tracked nearly dead south following us down US 61 towards Duluth. By the time we got to Two Harbors were we a ways ahead of the thunderstorm, so we stoped along Lake Superior to skip some stones and to grab a few photos.
After about 20 minutes the skies turned gray, the wind started to pick up and the temperature dropped quickly. Looking out to the north you can see the leading edge of the thunderstorm approaching, and it is also jetting out across the lake. Just a few minutes after taking this shot we were blanketed in ice cold rain and a stiff wind.
