This little male has been fun to watch. He is a bit on the small side compared to the three other colts that were born about the same time, but he is very active and outgoing. It has been fun over the past few years trying to predict which of the newborns (if they make it) will become a leader. This little guy shows he is frisky and willing to get into it with even the older males.
It's a bit sad to know that all of the mares in the herd have been treated with birth control during the March roundup and release. The treatment did not effect their pregnancies but will render them infertile for the next (four or five) years. This year's batch of colts will be the last for quite a while.
The distant blue of the mountains in the background show a hint of the last bit of snow near the summit.
