It was mid April and the mares were lounging around with their young colts in the warmth of the day. Some of the mares were in the breeding cycle that arouses the stallions. Of course, only the major stallions that had won the right to breed were allowed near the receptive mares.

But, it was in the air. The young stallions in the area could smell and sense that the mares were ready to breed...it drove them crazy. The only thing they could do was practice fighting among themselves. None of them would dare take on a herd stallion.
