My latest trip to see the wild horses was unusual. Snow on the mountain peaks tell the story: A very wet cold spring has caused grass to grow in abundance never seen before. The mustangs are fat and relaxed.
The mustangs were very calm and not moving around much, so I sat down in the grass with my camera. One by one the horses approached me to within a few feet, they seemed very curious. I was able to fill my memory card with portraits of young colts, mothers and even a few stallions. I never felt afraid with the mares and colts, but the harem stallions that came very close were a bit scary, I have seen what they are capable of doing to a perceived threat to the herd.
