Just a few months ago, I took several photos of this stallion with a very serious and bloody wound on his forehead. It looked bad enough that I wondered if he could survive the blood loss and concussion that he must have suffered when the blow occurred. (See the next image in the gallery).
But, here he is. Looking healthy and strong. Sadly, he is alone. The wound undoubtedly was bad enough that he could not defend his small group of mares. In watching him on the day that I took this image, he seemed very timid and avoided the other stallions. Horses have good memories. Until the testosterone takes over, and he gets the courage to take on the herd stallions again, he will run alone.
