Both eyes on this old moose were completely clouded. I am sure that all he could see was subtle differences in light and dark. He was hovering at a safe distance away from a cow and big strong bull during the fall mating season. Clearly, he was wishing to get some. But the old guy didn't dare even get close to the cow, the bigger stronger bull could really hurt him. He was in very poor condition. His fur was crusty and dull, ribs showing under his hide, small antlers that likely didn't get the required nutrition to grow to the normal large size. A sad individual that would probably die in the deep snow of the winter that followed in a few weeks of the date of this photo.
