In defense of his harem of mares, the lighter colored stallion attacks the pinto. A few moments before this frame, I had watched the lighter stallion streak across the landscape and hit the brown and white stallion with his chest at a full sprint. The unsuspecting pinto was slammed hard to the ground and quickly tried to get back up to defend himself as the attacker wheeled around and again went after the recovering horse. Thats the moment this photo was taken. It was a powerful show of force, likely intended to hurt the lessor stallion which had been lingering too close for most of the afternoon.
