Retaliation

Just a few seconds before this shot, the brown and white stallion had bitten the gray on the side of the cheek and ripped out a chunk of flesh the size of my hand. You can't see the wound on the other side of the gray's face, but the gray was enraged and in this shot reaches to bite him back.

This photo was taken after the sun had set in near-darkness, and had to be post-processed by lightening the image and applying noise removal to produce a viewable image.

Pentax K20D ,Sigma 50-500mm

I hate to see these beautiful horses fighting. Must take them forever to die.
When they are injured do they just starve or bleed to death?
Must be worth it to be free.
