Dunc,
I've been putting off commenting on your two entries because I've been trying to separate personal taste from an objective critique...but I can't seem to cross that hurdle, so this falls more into the realm of "i like chocolate, you like vanilla'.
I don't necessarily dislike the distortion one gets when shooting a tall building, but when the shot is face on, and there is 'space' on either side of the building, it just looks like be building is falling backwards.
I'd never really thought about it, but I guess when shot from an angle when 2 sides are visible, you can accept the distortion.
I understand the new world car lights link, but they really not working for me in this shot. This might be because it's basically a single beam of light. It doesn't look like the placement of the building and street gave you much options to capture two distinct headlight trails...maybe if it could be shot from a bit higher.

A good shot to get things started Dunc. I like the row of lit windows & the light trails add a touch of new to the old. Maybe could use some perspective correction
