Blue Rock in the Uintahs by Jamesdak

Provo River, High Uintahs, Utah

This image was taken many years ago on the Provo River in the High Uintahs of Utah. At the time I was using a Minolta 7xi with the wonderful old 28-85mm zoom. I shot this on Velvia on a overcast day. I do believe the shutter speed was close to one second or so and there was some color shift giving the wonderfull overall blue image. I originally had 3 shots of this (I bracket 1/2 stop each way)in my throw away pile but my then girlfriend loved it and I kept it. It's now one of my favorites.

Marc, I agree with your cropping comments, I regularly do just what you say when I print this image. I originally posted this shot to my Pbase account along with a bunch of others and did not crop it that way for some reason. It was probably getting late at night and I was not paying proper attention to what I was doing. Jim

James,
I'm going to need some exif data or for you to add comments with camera and date info. Otherwise I'll have to move this to the exhibition gallery.

I usually am not overly thrilled we these kinds of shots but this one does a nice job with the technique. The blue with touches of pink and white give this image a lot more depth than a lot of water motion shots. good job

I might crop a little of the left and bottom just to move the rock off center. But that's just my eye and many people will like it as it is.
