JJ, I histogram equalised the picture, such that it if it were in black and white the shades of grey would span completely, from black to white. It was the sun on the tree (Elm) that caught my eye in the first place. So, really this is deliberate, as for the age of the tree, well I reckon its older than anyone who can see it right now !

Nope. God has already taken care of the blending of trees with live and dead leaves. I was refering to the rim light on the side of the tree which is blown out. Over exposed. I assumed ( always dangerous) that you were looking for an evenly exposed picture. On the otherhand maybe it was your intention. You were presenting a narrative piece and I could interpret the scene as though a tall vandal with a bucket of whitewash painted the side of the tree - a few roots; then as she hurried away stage left she spilled paint on the leaves. ;+ ) JJ. PS Is this an Elm tree? How old do you figure?

JJ,

Not to sure what you are suggesting ?
Do I need to blend the 3 main elements of this picture ( green leaves, tree and fallen leaves ) ?

Can't beat God for gardening. You may like to have a look athttp://luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/blended_exposures.shtml on dealing with a shot like this.
