Wow, I really feel snookered! Actually, this looked like a very bizarre type of staircase, but without the little "+" sign I accepted it as real. S'ok. I still feel it's dynamic strength.

I loved the cross hatch pattern of this fire escape, but there wasn't any way to get a head-on angle, short of hiring a helicopter. So I took the shot from about 30 degrees and distorted the image to make it appear more head-on. I might try the shot again with a longer lens so the crop won't be so savage. Thank you all for your comments and interest.

Ha ! I just noticed you posted an orignal version. I was right about the crop, and I think the strange deviations come from the fact you applied some sort of perspective correction ?

It is a very graphical image. I would agree with Veronica with a slight rotation to the left (probably about one degree) and I might also crop out the posts on the left side. JeffryZ

Nice patterns here (again). Strange though how the construction seems to deviate from the expected parallellism. Coming from a 7D, I expect this one to be a rather small crop, considering the grainy and somewhat unsharp outlook.

Nice architectural detail! I view it as a human honeycomb. Is the center pole listing to the left, just a tad? Could be my eyes. I love slanted lines like these. They give motion, movement and the viewer's eye keeps traveling back & forth, up & down...reminds me of M.C.Escher.
