Hi Richard, above all I like the deep warm and dark tones of this picture. I like the repeating pattern of the three rakes, especially the curves on them. Lots of different textures give the depth to the photograph. The small window in the up-right corner seemed at first to be too much of a distraction, but then it appeared to me that it gives a good 'stop' point for the eye moving up the long wooden handle.

Richard,
nice composition, I think I would have liked a little more light at the top. I love the warm woody tone.

Richard, the rakes, handles and doors are great, but I also feel there's too much else there that distracts from the impact of those items. I think a tighter crop at the right to exclude the green spreader, and possibly with the removal of that handle at the front, this would work better for me.

Hi guys, thanks for your comments. I did try a number of variations on the shot, but preferred this one best. It was something of a grab shot, I didn't use a tripod (AS can make you lazy like that!) It was the arrangement of the three rakes that caught my eye. Not a great shot, but I was pleased with the way the lighting brought out the color and texture on the wood. I wasn't sure about the tiny corner of lighting from the window - it provides nice llight, but perhaps it would have been better to crop out the window itself.
Thanks again for commenting,
Richard.

I like the natural, familiar look of this shot. The three rakes give a nice repeating pattern, and too me they are the most intersting part. I find that the tiny bit of window in the upper right is a bit distracting. -Ord

Ok, a tool shed isn't expected to be very organised or structured (you should see ours...)
That said, this pic looks to me as a grab shot. Getting a nice compo from such a subject isn't easy. I wonder if you tried other angles (this one seems simply shot from normal eye level). On the plus side there is a nice clair/obscure effect.

Interesting composition. The browns and beiges give it a monochromatic effect that's very pleasing. The broom slats echo in miniature the vertical wall slats. I'm not so sure about the lighting. The bright lower portion certainly draws the eye to the broom slats, but the upper right section seems like wasted frame in that it's neither dark enough to be negative space nor bright enough to see any interesting detail. Very pleasing picture.
