I shot a series of Sam but thought this said a lot about his situation. There is an anonymous quality and a personal quality both at the same time.
I spent about two hours talking to him and learned a lot about his life. One of the things that horrified me about Sam was that he slept on the asphalt, which accounts for the blackness in his skin.
