Have uploaded a revised version of the shot. A little cropped on the bottom to exclude the section of wall in the lower right. Cropped a little on the left and selectively darkened a little to reduce the glare from the car headlights. Original at http://www.pbase.com/mtf_foto_studies/image/42441992. Thanks to all for the sugestions.
Richard.
Bob, thanks, I find the A1 does pretty well down to 2 or 3 seconds from a noise perspectve and that is enough for quite a wide range of night photography.
Regards,
Richard.

Richard,
You obviously haven't heard that you can't take shots like this without a DSLR:) Very nicely done. I agree with Bruce's cropping suggestion - always good to have a 2nd pair of eyes take a look. Bob
Hi guys, thank you for comments. Sorry I have been slow responding, but I have been travelling with limited access to the internet. The orange on the falls is the color from the sodium street lighting. The sun had only just fallen, which I think accounts for the lighter sky on the horizon.
Bruce thanks for the suggestions, I do sometimes miss small compositional artifacts that detract from the overall pic. Unfortuntaley I don't have the original on my laptop, so I will have to leave the shot "as is" for the present.
Moody dramatic shot. The delicate trees contrast nicely with the water flow. One niggle: crop out that tiny corner of green at the bottom and the little bit of glare and automobile on the left. -- Bruce

Very nice contrast of the crisp branches of trees on the sky and the smooth water flowing.
