I love this shot. I like the colors and composition. Although, I think the building is too much in harmony with its setting to be considered truly abandoned! Very nice shot,
Richard.

Very cool image. Talk about a "Stairway to Heaven"! Very good detail for such a distance.

Spectacular! Every aspect of this image.
I am glad you decided to include the insert -- otherwise the scale would have left me scratching my head and wondering whether I was viewing some miniature inlay or massive rock painting. I love the colors and the detail that you revealed. What fantastic contrast in angles -- the vertical and horizontal architecture of the monestary against that incredible metamorphic stratigraphy. Is that dolomite? You really should signal some geology departments -- they'd love this. Terrific photo!

Fred, I hope you didn't take my comments the wrong way.... what I meant was I would love to see this pic w/o the inset because it looks so interesting with the cliffs and diagonal lines intermingling with the horizontal lines of the building.... and my taste runs to the "guady / surreal" side of photography where colors jump out and you have to look closely to see what the photograph really is..... its a nice shot, but I see potential as a "surreal" mood also. Great shot Fred. The inset provides the context that shows what an extraordinary location this is. Nice one mate.
Cheers, Matt.

As to the colors, that's what they were. I debated about the inset. Problem is, one can't get any sense of the location of this extraordinary structure without the context, which is provided by the inset. In the end, I decided to include it.

very interesting shot..... i thought you had the camera held at an angle when i glanced at the pic at first. I could do without the inset though.... otherwise a nice shot of an interesting piece of history..... I am a "contrast & saturation" fanatic so when i say the colors are a bit bland, don't take it personal. Iam3D
