+ The Face of the Devil?! by Mattana

Hampshire, England

Detail work on an effigy at Winchester Cathedral
The Devil made me do it! ;-)
I probably got carried away with this one but this diabolical face was so full of energy…
I just couldn’t help it!

Mattana,

You sure did transform the original for this one! The shadows look light horns are about to sprout. I like it.

Certainly spectacular PPing, have you tried adding a bit of melted wax effect.

I like it but not so sure I would want it on the wall.

This is one hot image.
Complete transformation from feeling in original.

Hi Mattana, nice work. I think you are truly showing that most things can be made more interesting with the addition of saturated colours. I get more of a sense of a constant furnace than a burst of energy here. The only idea I have (and it mightn't even have the desired effect) would be to make it look like a jet/burst of flame was racing up around and past the face to completely envelope/frame the face without leaving dark bits to either side. Cheers, John

Thanks for all the comments. I’m sort of expecting a few stones… maybe it is early yet. ;-)
Jean, I generally work from the image. Each image gives me different ideas of its own transformation…
Some are good as they are and others just becon me to play/experiment with or to jazz them up. It is a teetering between greatly and ghastly!
When I saw this particular image – the face, the crown, the image source, etc. What can I say!
Cheers, Mattana

What a vision! I do so appreciate your displaying the original. Did you think of the change to reds when you saw the face, or did you play around and stumble on to it? It's truly inspired. I can feel the heat energy just looking at it (and get sort of a Twilight Zone feeling going back and forth between the original and the final.) Well done! - Jean

Mattana, you devil, you! Great job in the "reinterpretation." I like the energy in the colors!
