g'day HenkH - i can see why this'd be a fav. - un-usual, colour full, good light & shadows on the subject, nailed the composition, and the background has some interest, without distracting. before i saw your title i thought of china. Great pic. thanx. adrianox

Striking image. look twice to figure out the fish had been (almost) halved. They look to be a type of Squirrel fish or Bigeye, maybe?

These fishes are actually cut on one side and folded open like a book.
This is one of my favourite pics from that vacation: a 50x40cm print of it is hanging in my hallway.

I keep looking and looking and looking at this one too! They look like conjoined twin fish! Interesting and wierd :)

Oooh. This is a bit freakingly interesting (which I suspect is why you took the picture in the first place) .. On a recent National Geographic issue there was an article on deep see creatures, and this almost looks like one of those.
