John Day Painted Hills National Monument By Kimberly

This is a photograph that we took a few weeks ago while driving through Central Oregon. This particular photo is part of the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument. This was a small formation outside of the actual park. However, we found it to be the most colorful of all of the hills. As a matter of fact, this photo had very little done to it in Photoshop...the colors were actually this vivid! It was a beautiful sight!

I have to agree with Alain -- it does remind me of a giant foot (maybe a bit sunburnt)planted in the landscape. Lovely contrast between the rocks and greenery.

I forgot to say in commenting on your other shots that I like your presentation style with the drop shadow and script face titles over the white mat.

Ohh, my! This is beautiful. I recognize the shapes of prime fossil land from the Alberta badlands, but the colors here are quite different and absolutely outstanding. You have captured it quite well, with a great color contrast and with the foreground giveing us a good sense of depth.
