Superb image!

nice one jack - this shares some of the classic elements of smatty's pic, with the added strong repeated reflections in the forground leading you into the image. superb pic. ps. I tried to visualize how far above the water you held the camera? - but got vertigo trying ;-)

Classic shot, worthy of publication. Have you called the NZ tourist authority?! Tim

Amazing reflections and light. Despite the fact that you were obviously in a moving boat, this has a very tranquil, "early morning" feel. Great atmosphere. Wish I was there.

I really like the hypnotic pattern of the boat wake (is that the word) which form the leading line. Good shot

I love the lack of any vessel in the picture that you must've been in to take the picture - the way you've taken it pulls me right in, almost as if I'm dangling my feet in the water.

Breathtaking.

HI: see Luminous landscape for a step by step approach. Perfect in PSE also. Paul.

Paul,

Thanks for the comment. I had experimented with bringing out some of the detail in the dark areas but decided to retain the "early morning" mood with the sun not yet reaching into the sound. I'll do some further experimenting but I have limited experience using PS Elements. Jack

Hi, The other day there was a thread on contrast masking. I applied it to your pic and the mountain parts become rich with detail after it (blur = 30). Try it ! IMHO there is a benefit. Paul.
