Thanks John! Yeah, I agree with you about the rocks - take 'em out and you've got a completely different image. Funny how something so small can make so much difference. This was originally shot in colour, but even in colour it's almost monochromatic.

Hi Niamh,
Beautiful! I agree with Claudio that the rocks at the front left add a sense of depth to the scene. Without them, I think the main subject would be a bit too central, but it works this way. Do you also have a colour version or do you always shoot B&W? ;o)
Cheers, John

Tim, thanks for your kind comments. Art! *grin* I must show your comment
to my husband as an "I-told-you-so" after all the nagging! ;)

Niamh, I think you should be disqualified: this isn't photography it's art! Tim.

Wow, thanks for your comments guys. I just got lucky with this one - but this is nothing compared to the reality. IMHO the photographer hasn't yet been born who can *really* do the Highlands justice... but it's fun trying. If you get the chance to visit Skye or the Highlands, especially Wester Ross or the area round Fort William, don't turn it down! ;)

Kinda lost for words - a stunning picture in every sense.

Many thanks for your kind comments... this was taken right at the end of a holiday in the Scottish Highlands, when we were in the car going home. It took me ages to persuade my husband to stop the car so I could take a shot of the mist... Luckily Loch Lomond is about 20 or so miles long (don't quote me on that) and after 15 or so miles of being nagged, my husband finally gave in!

Hi Niamh,

This is a great picture. I love the composition and the marked contrast of the island on the background of the misty atmosphere work very well. The rocks on the lower left corner are subtle but I believe they make a strong contribution to the image and give great depth to the end result. Congratulation!

Wow! I hope you have this in a frame. It's worthy of an art gallery. The way the soft vapor interacts with the darker parts of the image is stunning. Thanks for sharing!
