Claudio, I like the way you've "kicked off" with a first challenge entry that is an original interpretation of the theme - like the lighting and mono feel, and the way the subject and its shadow are cropped for maximum impact!

Hi Claudio, this is an interesting interpretation of the subject "tracks". Although they are invisible for the human eye, we all know that they are there...side A, side B in stereo makes up 4 tracks, eh? In this respect: job well done! As regards the composition of the shot I think pulling the compact cassette to the left side of the frame was a good idea, it leaves enough space to let its own shadow fill up the remaining area, while the viewers still can enjoy the mechanical structure of the relative close-up even though the top and the bottom are cut off. But this "cut-off" technique brings about another unique photographing idea, coz although in reality the upper and lower parts of the cassette are not shown on the pic, still our brain is able to make it a complete object due to its well known nature. Congrats and Cheers, Feri

Hi Claudio,
My comment about not being able to see the tracks was tongue in cheek of course. ;o) I enjoy the fact that the tracks are suggested rather than being visible, so you appeal to my sense of interpretation in that respect. As for the tones, I think they are quite consistent with the subject and work well with the theme. I must admit the more I study this one the more I like it.
I also like the previous comment about the irony of a digital photo of an analogue subject, whether or not that was part of your intention.
Cheers, John

Hi John,

You don't need to see the tracks.. you know they are there... My goal is to evoke the concept and I'm using a recognizable image to trigger it. The tones are inspired by the color of the magnetic tape.

Claudio,
Well you bolted out of the starting blocks and down the C6 track to get to the comp gallery ahead of everyone else.
I like your choice of subject as something a bit different, except I can't see the tracks; maybe in the full size pic? ;o)
Good use of the frame. Overall, I find the tones a bit dull, but that's the cassette medium for you, so your pic is quite apt in that way. :o)
Cheers, John
