A beautiful pic - I love the contrast between the steep slope / dramatic sky and the small figure of the child. For me that floppy hat really adds the "emotional" touch! I'm glad you included the child's shadow.

Great shot! The wide angle exagerate the contrast of scale between the surrounding, the sky and the little boy. Works very well in B&W.

This started out life as a 4x6 inch colour print I shot with a 35mm auto-everything point and shoot. I recopied it as digital using a makeshift copy stand. For this tracks theme, I though black and white helped emphasize the texture in the sand. I used just the red channel to make the black and white, which deepened the sky/cloud contrast, similar to shooting black and white through a red filter.

This is an absolutely wonderful pic. The compostion, the exposure, everything about is great. Very well done. I'm a huge fan of black and white.
