"Still I'm Sad" by Plamen Antonov

There was something wrong with him. I don't know what. But he just appeared and his face told me: "Still I'm sad".

In my eyes, this is a sad cat blaming you for beeing left alone all day long.
Good shot.

I agree that my picture doesn't emit a strong "alone" feeling. But as I was there and knowing Muro since 6+ years he was definitely sad and lonesome. May be this is a matter of knowing each other.

If your subject looks at the camera, the presence of the camera (and the cameraman/woman) is instantly established. All "alone" feeling is lost (unless in special circumstances where a story is being told in the picture and the eye-camera contact is necessary). Your picture was supplimented with a description, a story, so I can sort of see the theme in there...a sad and lonely cat out of nowhere...but I have to struggle a bit. A lovely cat picture none the less.

Plamen, I'm missisng that so called "jumpin' up by excitement" of a shot solving the ever painful task of fulfilling the subject called "alone". Kitty is cute, no doubt...but not really making my day!. Cheers to you from Feri

Nice cat picture! (Are you sure you didn't buy a 10D?) The DOF is fine, I initially thought you planned it that way. The 'alone' is weak.

May be I have to change it to "Still I'm alone"... Rainbow prevailed...

The framing of the cat works very well, and I like the way the cats body recedes into darkness. The focus, exposure and balance of the composition are excellent. I can't say I get a sense of alone from the image.

He, he, I have to thank the P mode for the shallow DOF - Muro just appeared and I took the picture - there was no time for thinking of DOF. I'm living with this cat since 6+ years and there was something wrong that he was unable to tell me.
Thanks niamh

I'm not sure personally whether I get a feeling of him being "alone" as such from this shot, but it's a lovely image nonetheless. The muted colours appeal and I really like the way you have used a relatively shallow DOF to emphasise his face and those huge green eyes. He's certainly trying to say something. :)

Love this photo, that cat's eyes tell the story
