Given the zoom range, the excellent focus and still having a bokeh effect, I wonder how long was it before you finally captured this split-second shot.

Hi Nigel,
I always like bird shots from the back because the feather detail is so interesting from that view. I'm not sure if this is a duck or a goose or even some other aquatic bird-what ever it is, the soft taupe-colored wings, progressively getting lighter towards the margins are lovely. You did a very good job with the exposure and colors and captured the translucent quality of the bright orange webs with the light shining through the left one. Very nice detail, interesting background, not the usual sky with a bird in flight. The contrast between the colors of the bird and the rocks, also the softness and the hardness, among other things makes this a very good image. Well done.
