Nothing like waking up on a cold morning all wrapped up in warm blankets unless you’ve made the decision the night before to get up early and search for a brilliant sunrise. I moaned a bit and grumbled some but managed to get out of bed. With blurry eyes I put on the warm stuff, grabbed my cameras, started the car while I scrapped frost off the windshield and headed east. I didn’t even make coffee. It’s been about 9 months since I traveled to some of my favorite spots. They are not as familiar to me anymore. An old house along a favorite pond is gone and goliath land movers have taken its place while devouring the open grassland. Felt the loss inside of a friend and as I have been doing the last 5 years kept on driving farther east looking for open space where the sun will paint its wonder. I may have to start getting up earlier for the longer drive. This image was taken about a mile from the pond.
