This is not the type of image I want to post but there is a story behind it. I was out early for some sunrise shots, and even got a few nice ones. But, as I was coming back into town I passed an open field where I had seen construction equipment about three months ago. They were putting in a road and I assumed it to be a new housing development. To my surprise it is acutally a county and city supported natural area called the Fossil Creek Reservoir Regional Open Space. I drove into the area and found a nice parking lot with a ranger station. As soon as I got out of the car I could hear the geese and turning around this is what I saw. One of the rangers said they have around 4500 geese in the area in the afternoons. Off to the right of the photo is some open water where there were presently 27 bald eagles. I was impressed with their setup. They only had walking paths on the south side and with the help from Audobon Society volunteers bird watching excursions will be done on the south side only. It brought a good feeling to me since I am not pleased with all the new developmnet going on. I will definitely be spending some time out there.
