I sent Bruce the original RAW image and he did the following:

Converted in C1 Vers 4 with WB set to 6984, -3 As shot the WB was 4673, +1. Made 2 conversions, at +0.20 and +1.00. Then blended using the layer mask composite technique I sent you. I painted on the mask to brighten up the coat. Then put an adjustment layer with curves to lighten up the shadow areas of the faces and neck. Then put another adjustment layer with curves to lighten up the eye sockets a little more. Also used a local area contrast adjustment (USM 10-250-0). Lastly, added a vignette effect (edge darkening).
