Old Church.jpg(421)

Somewhere in Peoria

Just another sight that I pass on a regular basis.
I kinda like the colours of the stones used to build the Church.

Apologies if this critique is not interesting to you. I'm not sure since I haven't commented on your photos before, but on your gallery page you do ask for advice at improving your photography. I find that providing critiques helps me improve *my* photography, too.

I agree with you about the stones in that church. But if those stones are your subject, ask yourself: why is all this other stuff in the frame? The signs, the poles, the wires, even the bushes and the trees distract from the thing you wanted to photograph.

I'm generally not a fan of ultra-stark or abstract compositions and I like to see some context. So I would show enough of the church to let us know that it's a church, but I would try to hide the rest of the distractions. Maybe you could find a way to include some of a bush or a tree to soften the effect or act as a bit of a frame.

If you like the stones, let those dominate the picture.

like the unusual facing on the church. certainly makes it stand out from its surroundings.

They are neat. What are they? I've never seen such black stone before.

I'd comment, but my eyes can't take the background (color blind)
