From as far back as I can remember I have loved horses. At the age of 7/8(1967) We moved to Ceritos (sp?) California. At that time it was a dairy community. That's when we got or first horses. REAL ones.
I remember my first was a POA (paint pony). She was such an onery thing. Did any and everything she could to shake me off her. Going under hitching rails, up steep hills, what ever it took. Even from the beginning I prefered bareback, but with her (pony Karen) I had to have a saddle. At least till I was better at controling her.
Pony Karen was a very smart pony. She'd lay down & roll out from under the corral' fence to get out. She also knew how to open/slide gate locks.
For extra income, my parents bordered horses for other people. We had this Beautiful black Stallon, his name was Kalon (sp?). He was a Sulky Racer. Well, Karen opened his gate one time, in the wee early hours. Took him on a site seeing tour. ALL over the area. My parents freaked out when they woke up & found them gone. The town was searched high & low to no avail. About 7ish that evening the phone rang. It was the ranch we had bought Karen from. It seems she had taken Kalon out there to meet her old friends! Needless to say, the owners of Kalon came & took him else where, we put Padlocks on all the gates, built on to the lower fence...
These horses in this gallery are some that I have collected over the years.(though most are gone. and what's left are wore out).
The ones in the beginning are two that were given to me on my 10th B'day by my two youngest Uncles.
I own a small collection of horses that were presents, or my buying. These are the first two I received. For my 10th B'day.
As usual, I couldn't decide which I liked best of the photo's, so here are the others...: http://www.pbase.com/ms_mimi69/horse_collection
