History, Beijing Shi
    A wall crumbeling

  Seen by an old hat

  Piles of bricks abode

  Snake across the horizon

  Watching ever carfeully

  As if history may disappear.

This photo was taken in March of 2006 and focuses on an elderly resident of a small mountain village two hours outside of Beijing along the great wall in between Mutianyu and Simatai. He helped us navigate around this area's "ye changcheng" (wild great wall). I snapped this photo while he was looking out over the wall which appears to stretch into infinity across the horizon from in front of a crumbeling guard tower.
