Control: This word evokes a diverse response which can be positive or negative.
In my images I am depicting situations where control is directed towards women in a
negative way. To this day, in many cultures women are still dominated by the males
in their lives, the fathers and brothers in their childhood all too often followed
by husbands who do not allow them to pursue their dreams. They are “fenced in”
into roles that are prescribed to them often involving servitude with no voice of
their own. This leads to “shattered lives” with their wills broken, being the
target of uncalled-for anger with no way out. Heightening the awareness of the
plight of ‘controlled women’ is one small step towards bettering their lives.

The below poem is written by my friend and is very fitting with the theme of the exhibit.
BOUNDARIES
She said...
It's difficult
To respect boundaries
That are not clear.
I thought...
Wow!
How profound.
What do I
Need to do
To create
Clear boundaries?
That takes
Self awareness
And communication.
How do I
Show respect
For others' boundaries?
By listening deeply
And acting appropriately.
By having clear,
Healthy boundaries
We contribute
To making
A world that works
For everyone.
