Eastern Sierra
Bristlecone Pines rank as the oldest trees in the world, growing in high elevations.
The bristlecones in the White Mountains grow above ~9000ft to ~12000 ft of elevation on white rocky soil inhospitable to all but the most hardy plants. There are many trees here in the Bristlecone Pine Forest that exceed 4000 years of age and are still growing.
Great gallery Meggi! I made my first trip to the Bristle cone pine forest this year. I didn't make it up to Patriarch grove though. They are amazing trees and wonderful to photograph.
