We spent a day in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia, before flying to the coastal town of Luteritz. Just inland from there is Kolmanskop, a deserted diamond mine. Next stop was Sossusvlei with its salt pans and huge red dunes. We saw sunrise at Deadvlei and took a sunrise balloon ride over the desert. From there we traveled to Swakopmund, stopping to see flamingos at Walvis Bay and taking a desert tour. Then on to Moani Mountain Camp with its bouldered landscape. Saw ancient petroglyphs in Twyfelfontein. Heading north we stopped in Opuwo and visited a Himba tribe.
