This is a field of grain sorghum near my house, at the University of Georgia's Plant Sciences farm. My friend the farm manager tells me that some different varieties of seed get mixed into a batch, causing the occasional shoot to rise above the pack. Each time I would drive by, I'd think about what a perfect picture of leadership the field gave.
