Along the Mosby Highway: Between Middleburg and Upperville
I hadn't taken the opportunity to explore this part of the Mosby Heritage Area very well until I began working this edition. The more I explored, however, the more captivated I became. I returned time after time to admire and to take pictures, and every time I returned I discovered something new.
This section along the Mosby Highway is especially rich in Virginia Piedmont landscapes, grand historic architecture, immaculate equestrian farms, beautiful streams and ponds, and abundant wildlife.
Unique to this area, however, is the unusual number and type of gate ornaments, which I found fascinating. I began purposefully looking for swans, foxes, eagles, pineapples, roosters, and other pieces of statuary set atop beautiful farm gate posts. I've included many of my finds in this gallery.
As they say, pictures speak louder than words, so I'll close and invite you to view the gallery. I hope you enjoy the images, and that they inspire you to explore this area for yourselves!
Regards,
Jim
I took all the photographs in this gallery along the John S Mosby Highway (US Route 50) between Middleburg and Greengarden Road, including short excursions along St. Louis Road, Atoka Road, Welbourne/Millville Road, Willisville Road, Rokeby Road, and Greengarden Road.
