One of the most extant examples of the ruinous affects of Merritt's Raids during November 1864 is the Potts-Neer (Burnt) Mill west of Hillsboro in Loudoun County. I love taking portraits of such old relics of our Virginia heritage. Too many of them have been lost forever to 'modernization.'
